There are many functions of the city handled out of the recorder’s office. The city recorder’s office handles the official record keeping for the city. Minutes of the Board of Mayor and Councilmen, Planning Commission and Alcoholic Beverage Board/Beer Board are kept in the recorder’s office. The recorder also serves as the city’s property tax collector and receipts all general government revenue. The City of Baxter holds city court once a month for city traffic violations and code violations. The recorder also serves as the court clerk maintaining the official docket and receipts payment for violations. Various permits such as building, mechanical, plumbing, and solicitation permits are issued out of the recorder’s office.
